Distraction Factory, 1994–1999
Distraction Factory was an experimental music project that merged electronics, field recordings and noise.

I learned to write as a member of the SEED Writers’ Workshop and have been writing across genres and platforms ever since.
I was a regular contributor to Metroblogging Montreal from 2005–2008 and an active member of Yulblog. My work has since appeared in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Times Higher Education, TOPIA, Sounding Out, and Boing Boing.
I’m currently the editor of LVAC News, the online newsletter of the Lakeshore Village Artists’ Co-op. LVAC News won the Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto’s award for Best Website in 2024.
I continue to serve as a reviewer for leading international journals, including Cultural Studies, Sound Studies, and The Scholar and Feminist Online.

PHOTOGRAPHY
My work blends documentary and street photography to capture fragments of everyday life in the city. The images I shoot are about noticing and listening, and derive from the experience of being in relationship with a place. I’m drawn to historical continuities and the way they frame how people live in the present. I also quite like buildings, surfaces and cats.
